2010 marks a Jubilee year for Knox Area Rescue Ministries. KARM is celebrating 50 years of helping the poor and needy of the Knox Area. We at Davis Newman Payne have been thrilled to help KARM launch key elements of this milestone event - including the KARM Jubilee Logo, microsite, various print materials and campaign videos.

Visit the Jubilee web site, www.karmjubilee.org to see the site and to learn more about the Jubilee year-long celebration. The videos we filmed should be added to the site soon. We'll be sure to share them with you here at dnp.com once they're finalized.

We were also thrilled to be a part of the KARM Jubilee kick off event last week. An incredibly inspiring event to see and hear first hand how KARM has changed lives.

Visit www.karmjubilee.org to see how you can support this incredible organization. Whether it's your time, your talents, your money or your prayers, KARM needs your support more than ever this year. Consider these facts:

• KARM serves up to 1,400 meals a day to the poor and homeless.

• Over 400 men, women and children call KARM home each night.

• 139,479 spent the night at KARM last year.

Together, we can all help KARM accomplish so much during this special year!

While Peyton Manning is busy breaking down film of the Saints' defensive, we ad types are busy breaking down what will happen with this year's crop of Super Bowl commercials. With that in mind, we wanted to share some sites to get you ready for the big game:

Here's a look at "the 15 most Brilliant Super Bowl Commercials of All Time." This list is based on the ad's impact at the cash register. Of course, any list like this is certainly up for debate. What spots would you add to this roster?

So, you want to advertise in the Super Bowl, but you don't have much money to spend? How bout a 1-Second Commercial! Hopefully, no one is blinking when these roll this year.

And finally, here's a link to the YouTube AdBlitz channel. They'll have all of this year's spots uploaded throughout the game and the chance to vote on your favorites.

Enjoy the game...and the commercials. Go Colts!

How Will Apple's Tablet Change the Game?

Today is like the day before Christmas for tech geeks everywhere. Tomorrow, Steve Jobs is set to announce a "major new product from Apple" - wildly considered on the interwebs to be the much anticipated Tablet. There's been much speculating and salivating for the device that Jobs is rumored to have called "the most important thing I will have ever done."

Coming from the man who has revolutionized how we work, listen to music and communicate, that's saying something.

What will the Tablet look like and do? Hopefully, we'll know tomorrow. In the meantime, there are plenty of photos floating around - my favorite being a description that it will "look like an iPhone flattened by a rolling pin."

Hopefully, we'll get a glimpse at what all they hype is about tomorrow.

Super Bowl Ads Almost Ready to Rock!

It's about that time. The NFL playoffs are underway and advertisers everywhere are getting excited. This advertiser is excited because his beloved Cowboys (finally) won a playoff game, but that's another story.

Super Bowl XLIV is just around the corner. And while we don't know what two teams will be facing off, we do know that, as usual, there will be a group of highly entertaining (and highly expensive) crop of Super Bowl ads to debate around the water cooler the next day.

Actually, the ads aren't going to be quite as expensive as previous years. Call it a sure sign of our sluggish economy, but for just the second time in history, prices for ads in the Super Bowl dropped. A 30-second spots during next month’s game, airing on CBS will go for between $2.5 million and $2.8 million, down from last year’s record of an average $3 million, when the game was on NBC. A bargain, don't you think?

We also know that one newcomer to the Super Bowl Ad rotation will be Dr. Pepper, who will be running a Super Bowl ad for the first time in the company's history. The soft-drink maker's commercial for the big game will feature rocker Gene Simmons and his Kiss band mates.

Will the iconic rockers work up a rendition of their classic "Dr. Love" but work "Dr. Pepper" into the title? That would be the easy play. It'd be much cooler if they worked up something to their anthem "Cold Gin" Just sayin'.

Stranger things have happened. We'll all be tuning in on Super Bowl Sunday to see what they, and everybody else, comes up with.

2010 Ad Biz Predicitions

It's a new year and a new decade, and so that means it's time to get all Nostradamus-y. Ad Age recently asked its correspondents to look ahead to the coming year and identify the single-most important issue faced by the industries they cover in 2010. It's a good read that you can check out here.

What do you predict for the digital, print and broadcast worlds in the next year and beyond? Does Social Media continue it's meteoric growth or level off? What are the effects of mobile devices becoming even more technologically advanced and mainstream? How many more apps can there be for that? We'd love to hear your thoughts.
